This adventure begins with a trip of almost 3 hours from Guayaquil to Puerto López. Traveling along the route of the sun from Santa Elena to Manabí, passing by and visiting more than 10 fishing and craft villages in the area.
Upon arrival at Mantaraya Lodge an exquisite lunch will be waiting for you and in the afternoon, after a well-deserved rest we will have the opportunity to visit the small fishing community of Salango. This small town is to the south of Puerto Lopez and has an interesting museum with pieces collected from different places, inside and outside the national park.
In addition, the museum shows in chronological order vestiges and archaeological ceramics of cultures that lived in this area more than 5000 years ago. After dinner, we will have an explanatory talk that will introduce us to the species of birds that we will find in Machalilla National Park and plan the activities of the next day’s tour.
Day 2
This day we can change the activities of the continent to explore the wonders of the cliffs of the Island of the Silver. The Isla de la Plata is a magnificent wildlife sanctuary, especially coastal and pelagic birds.
Our marine adventure begins in the tranquil bay of Puerto Lopez, which is appropriate to make the embarkation to the boat Mantaraya. Sailing lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. There are 3 main activities to do on this full day tour.
The first is a hike along a predetermined trail on the island with one of our naturalist guides to observe species such as blue-footed boobies, masked boobies or nazca, magnificent frigates and perhaps albatrosses. You can choose between the long or short path and after the trek we can start with the second activity, surface diving. We will have enough time to enjoy this activity and on the shores of the island there is an immense variety of marine flora and fauna.
The ideal place for this activity is in Drake Bay. If you prefer to just swim or relax on the beach you can do this during this time. The lunch offered during this tour is box lunch and in the afternoon we will sail back to Puerto López where a bus will take us back to the hotel. In the evening we will have dinner and then, we will have a talk to know the activities of the following day and more information about the area.
